In August 2013 I wrote an article about the
Pagh (પાઘ) in the Swaminarayan Hindu Tradition.

Today some pictures illustrating the winter hat (Garam Topi - ગરમ ટોપી), worn by
His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj (પ્રમુખ સ્વામી મહારાજ)the Guru of the BAPS Swaminarayan order of the Swaminarayan tradition.

Come Back of the Biretta

One thing missing still today is religious headgear. If you look at pictures from the past, you will notice Catholic clergy wearing all kinds of distinctive head coverings. These head coverings set them apart and made it obvious that they are someone special. The most recognizable piece of clerical headgear is the biretta

You only rarely seen a biretta until Pope Benedict XVI issued Summorum Pontificum and allow a freer and wider use of the Tridentine Mass.

When I was in Rom in September 2013 a lot of clerical shops have these wonderful head coverings again on display.
