In Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Tradition the "Qob" is a recent developement over the past 100 - 200 years, no more. The "Qob" of a Monk/Priest (Abba) is different than of a Married Priest (Kesis). The White Qob is worn during the Qidassie - Holy Eucharist.

Dear Abba Yohannes,
ReplyDeletethank you very much for your contribution.
I intend to publish a separate post of the headgear of the Orthodox Ethiopian Church with Aklil, Teklil, Disit and Qob next month.
Dear Mr. Philippi,
ReplyDeleteI enjoy looking at your wonderful collections. Would you know a source where I can purchase the "Qob" in its different forms?
Blessings,
+Michael Kline, OCR
