Miznefet of the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel




Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar has been the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel and the Rishon LeZion since his appointment in 2003.

Misnafat - Miznefet - Miznephet - Mitsnephet - Mitznefet - Miznäfät
The Misnafat is (according 2. Moses 39,28) the headgear of the High Priest (Kohen Gadol). 
Today it is only worn seldom by the Chief Rabbi.

  2. What is the cultural origin of the mitznefet? Is it turkish in origin. It seems to me that his robe is similar to a Turkish cübbe. Is there a connection?

    1. Maybe it is similar but not 100% identic. I doubt that there is a connection.
